 Bravo

Here is a message about the horrible destinies of slaughter horses. Also included was the following heartbreaking video from Sharkonline.

Federal law requires that horses be rendered unconscious before they are slaughtered. However, undercover footage proves that many animals are improperly stunned by shooting up to 4 metal bolts into their heads, and are conscious while they are shackled by one hind leg and hoisted into the air prior to having their throats slit.

A horse is forced into a metal lined, rectangular cubicle below floor level. An arm within an elbow length glove reaches forward. The gun in the hand of the killer shoots a metal bolt into the brain of that victim. The horse falls, yet sometimes struggles to get back on its feet, maybe having up to four bolts ejected into its brain.

Many of these horses are shipped under deplorable conditions. A lot of them are hauled in double decker cattle trucks, whose walls are not tall enough for most horses to carry their heads and necks effectively in order to balance themselves correctly. Animals often fall down and remain on their sides for days. Others get colic and die a miserable death. Horses do not have access to food or water; neither are they protected from unacceptable hot or cold weather conditions.

This horrible scenario reminded me to ask for your help again to support the work of the Horse Rescue Relief and Retirement Fund.
We started supporting Bravo, a beautiful Shire horse a couple of month ago. I learned that he was one of the horses who was rescued from the slaughter house. Please go and read his full story at Save The Horses.

A s you can see he enjoys live now to the fullest and will be groomed to be an ambassador for all the slaughter horses. Feeding him, training him costs money. Lot's of money!

If you can, please help him either with a monthly sponsorship or a one time donation, every bit helps. Please also tell his story to all your friends by forwarding his story. Again, he needs all the help he can get.

For more on the topic slaughter horses watch the video from the National Horse Protection Coalition.
